The code of conduct for councillors sets out principles of behaviour that an elected member of a local authority must adhere to in the performance of his/her duties.
The code of conduct for employees sets out principles of behaviour that an employee of a local authority must adhere to in the performance of his/her duties.
The Code of Conduct for Councillors applies to members of city and county councils.
The Code of Conduct for Employees applies to employees of city and county councils.
The codes set out how councillors must behave in office or in their employment – in areas such as general conduct and behaviour, managing conflicts of interest, planning matters, accepting gifts and hospitality, personal dealings with the local authority, having regard for council resources, and maintaining satisfactory working relationships.
