Are you a minister, Minister of State, ministerial adviser, senior civil or public servant? If so, you are an office holder and have responsibilities under the Ethics Acts and the code of conduct for office holders.
The Acts and code set out rules about the disclosure of interests, tax compliance and standards of behaviour while in office.
If you are an office holder who has been elected, such as a TD or senator, you also have obligations under the Electoral Act, both during an election and when elected.
As an office holder, you may be a designated public official under the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015. You are also subject to post-employment restrictions when you leave your position. See www.lobbying.ie for more information on lobbying and post-employment rules.
Contact us at the Standards Commission for advice on your obligations under the legislation.
The Commission has guidelines for office holders to help you understand your obligations under the legislation.
